I assure when the transfer is finished?
Q12: Sometimes my computer “freezes”
for a few seconds during data transfer.
Q13: Why the internal memory of
the device is seen less than the actual capacity in Windows Explorer
Q1.
Unable to recognize the device under Windows XP.
A. In Device Manager ->USB controllers ->USB root hub->power
management unselect the option that allows Windows to automatically
turn off the device. If you have more than one root hub you have
to unselect the above mentioned option for that hub on which you
will connect the device.
Q2. When running the installation,
a prompt for the Windows installation CD appears. Why?
A2. To configure the web camera, the installer needs files which
belong to Windows. They are installed "on first use",
that is, when you install an imaging device that uses them.
Q3. The
camera turns off unexpectedly.
A3. Please check the batteries - this can happen when they are
depleted or very cold.
Q4."No
Preview" appears on the TFT when reviewing the pictures.
A4. "No Preview" means that the picture is corrupted.
Either the batteries have run out while processing the image,or
the camera has been switched off unexpectedly.
Q5.The
internal memory cannot be accessed thru the USB when a card is
inserted.
A5. The standard USB drivers we use do not allow the mounting
of both memories at once. It can only be achieved with custom
drivers, but then the devices wouldn't be driver free for Windows
ME/2k/XP.
Q6. (PhC 2100/2300/3400)
During transfer of files to/from the computer, the camera switches
off.
A6. The models PhC 2100/2300/3400 do not use the USB as a power
source. Consequently, if the batteries run out during transfer,
the camera switches off. Please check battery status prior to
connecting the camera to your computer.
Q7.
What is the difference between fixed focus and autofocus?
A7. With fixed focus, the range in which objects appear sharp
is predefined - e.g. from 80cm to infinity. Macro mode on a fixed
focus camera means that you can switch to another predefined focus
range - e.g. 15-25cm. An autofocus camera adjusts the focus range
depending on the scene.
Q8.The .avi videos do not
play on the PC.
A8. Please check the version of your DirectX - it must be 8.1
or later to be able to play the videos.
Q9. How do I delete mp3
files from the camera?
A9. PhC 7200/8300/2300/3400 - Press the 'OK' button and then the
'vol -' button.
Q10. How do I format the
internal memory?
A10. Go to SET mode > Media > Format
Q11. When copying files
to my player, the Windows copy progress indicator disappears
before the actual transfer finishes. If the USB cable is unplugged
before the transfer finishes, Windows issues “Disk write
error” message. How can I assure when the transfer is
finished?
A11. This problem is due to the large Windows disc cache and
is observed in all Windows environments. There are several solutions
for this problem:
In Windows 2000 and Millennium there is a special
icon on the task bar “Unplug/Eject”, which enables
the removable media to be removed without any risk of losing
data.
Check the light beside the viewfinder - if it is red, there
is transfer. The camera can be safely disconnected from cable
or the card ejected only when the light is green.
Disable the internal Windows disc cache for removable drives.
This approach is only valid to Windows 98 and Millennium. It
will force the progress bar to reflect the actual transfer progress
and you can safely unplug the device or eject the card after
the copy progress bar disappears. The easiest way to do this
is to use some common available freeware/shareware programs
like CacheMan to disable the Windows cache for removable disks,
or manually following these steps:
-
• On the “My Computer” icon with the
right mouse button click select “Properties”
and click on the “Performance” tab.
• From the Performance dialog select “File
System” Button.
• From the “File System” dialog, select
“Removable disk” tab.
• From the “Removable disk” dialog,
uncheck the “Enable write-behind caching on all
removable disc drives”
• Apply the new settings using “Apply”
button
• Choose “OK”
Q12. Sometimes my computer
“freezes” for a few seconds during data transfer.
A12. This problem is related to the multitasking scheduler of
Windows. The same situation is observed during the formatting
or copying of files to the floppy disk drive. The time of freeze
depends on system performance, file cache, etc., but should
be in the range of several seconds.
Q13. Why the internal memory of
the device is seen less than the actual capacity in Windows
Explorer
A13.The capacity of your device is reported using the decimal
numbering system (1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes and 1 GB = 1,000,000,000
bytes). Both Windows and Macintosh operating systems use the
binary numbering system, which results in a lower reported capacity.
Thus even 40GB in Windows are shown as 37.25 GB!
