Q. The player does not work.
A. Check whether the battery has been inserted properly.
Q. The buttons of the player do not work.
A. Check if the “Hold function” is activated. If it is activated the icon will be displayed on the screen. Press and hold the button for a few seconds to deactivate it.
Q. There is no sound after the Play button is pressed in “MP3 mode”.
A. Make sure that you have not pressed the Play button twice as the second pressing pauses the playback.
Q. Cannot download MP3 files to Diva Gem.
A. Make sure the player is connected to your PC.
A. Check if there is free space on your player. If the memory is full, delete some of the files from the memory and then copy the new files onto it.
Q. Cannot enter USB mode.
A. Disconnect the USB cable from the player and then reconnect it.
A. Make sure that your operating system supports USB and it is working correctly.
A. If you are using Microsoft Windows 98/Me, make sure that you have installed the Daisy Multimedia USB drivers from your Diva Gem CD.
Q. How to update the firmware version?
A. Download the latest firmware from http://www.daisymm.com
Copy all the files from the archive onto the memory of your player.
1. Press Play to start Diva Gem and press and hold the joystick to enter the main menu.
2. Press and hold the joystick again.
3. Use the joystick to select:
“No“ - to cancel programming.
“Yes” - to confirm programming.
4. Press the joystick to confirm.
Q. The following message appears on the display: BAD MEDIA.
A. Enter the Settings menu and format the current media. (All information and files on the current media will be lost!).
Q. My SD/MMC card does not work correctly with Diva Gem.
A. Daisy Multimedia recommends cards from the following brands:Dane-Elec, Toshiba, Infenion, Twinmos Diva Gem works very well with other brands too, but sometimes problems may occur with non-branded or low-quality cards.
Q. This user's manual is not relevant for my firmware or hardware version.
A. Go to http://www.daisymm.com and download the user's manual for your firmware or hardware version.
Q. I can't write files to my MAC, I can only read it.
A. Please download firmware version 4.30/2.10 (no Bluetooth)/ 4.31/3.10 (with Bluetooth) or later.
Q. Where I can find menu languages for my DivaGem?
A. Go to http://www.daisymm.com in support section, and choose downloads. The languages are zipped with the version.
Q. How big card I can use with DivaGem?
A. The player is tested with up to 512MB MMC/SD cards.
Q. Slow copying from/to Diva Gem WinXP.
A. In Windows Explorer right-click on the Removable Drive as which the device appears. Choose the "Hardware" tab, and select your device from the list. Press the "Properties" button, and then choose the "Policies" tab. Then, click on "Optimize for performance."
Q. Unable to recognize the device under Windows XP or 2003.
A. In [Device manager] ->USB controllers ->USB root hub ->power management unselect the option that allows windows automatically to turn off the device. If you have more than one root hub you have to unselect the above mentioned option for that hub on which you will connect the device.
